Why did I choose a state school??

It’s really too bad that a college education, at least at this cheap, cheesy university, is pretty much a joke.

Out of the five classes in which I’m enrolled this semester, all five are for my major (not for General Ed), but only in one of them have I learned anything that will help me in my career.

One is Operations Management, which though irrelevant to my career, at least makes sense. I can see how these things would be useful to managers involved with production.

I also have three “ISYS” (Informations Systems) classes. One of these, Advanced Java, is useful because we’re learning how to actually write code to do useful things. The others are simply “pointy-haired boss” classes, that teach how to sound smart by using big words when really you don’t have a clue. At least I like the professors compared to the one in my worst class last semester (who shall remain unnamed because I might be forced to take him for another class coming up), but the subject matter, to me, seems irrelevant.

I kick myself when I think about how if I’d freakin’ tried for it, I could have gotten a scholarship and gone someplace interesting (and private). Instead, I’m stuck stepping over homeless people every day in this ridiculous city, and attending a university where there are more students than seats.
