Saturn

I don’t know if I’ve said this here before, but those Saturn Ion commercials really rock my world. They just give me a cool feeling… Anyway, go watch them and tell me what you think. My favorite is “Prom” (The song is “Forever Young” by Alphaville.)
Can you imagine when this race is won?
Turn our golden faces into the sun
Praising our leaders,
We’re getting in tune
The music’s played by the madmen

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever
Forever - and ever

By the way, the girl in the back seat in both of those is totally cute.

See, at my prom, they actually PLAYED Alphaville’s Forever Young. That ad made me feel ancient. :)
It’s really spooky when the pop music you listened to in high school turns up in car ads. it really means you grew up when they’re selling cars and putting music YOU like in the commercial. You’re officially in the decisionmaking seat of your family unit, the advertiser seems to think- and so he pitches his car not at dad, not at mom, but at you.

That’s cool… It seems like a good song for that. Even though it came out the year I was born, I’m surprised I hadn’t heard it before that commercial because it’s just cool.

I’ve thought about something similar… how it will be weird when I’m like 40 and I hear a really great song on the radio and somebody says, “Why do you have it on the oldies station?”

The screaming you can hear from a southerly direction is me, in my office. Carry on then. :)

It is a lovely lovely song, indeed. And it does fit very well into that context. And it’s as old as you are. Every so often reality reminds me I am no longer in my mid 20’s.
